There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom

for the transcript of the talk given by feynman at the annual meeting of Americal Physical Society at Caltech.
I would consider this the best prediction of science now and to come. He envisages science concurring to the constrains of the future technologies. This man seems to have known all of it. From my course PHY598 and some handouts..here is a bief interpretation of his predictions

We would just have to press the same metal plate again into the plastic and we would have another copy.
This is the PDMS stamp technology developed by Whitesides.

We can reverse the lens of an electron microscope in order to demagnify as well as magnify.Ha ha E-beam lithography.Modern lithography is used to produce posters, books, newspapers, packaging, credit cards, CDs.

A source of ions, sent through the lens in reverse, could be focused to a very small spot.-Focused Ion beam Lithography.

Now, instead of writing everything, as I did before, on the surface of the head of a pin, I am going to use the interior of the material as well--3D storage not yet practical in this form. Layered structures common in IC manufacture and layered materials

you simply evaporate until you have a block of stuff which has the elements--
Molecular beam epitaxy for layered materials; layered structure of integrated circuits.

Consider any machine – for example, an automobile- and ask about the problems of making an infinitesimal machine like it.
MEMS it is. Some sub micron MEMS.

What could we do with layered materials with just the right layers?
Here he is refering to layered semiconductors and magnetic multilayers.

It is possible to emit light from a whole set of antennas , like we emit radio waves.---Is he fucking refering to Nanophotonic materials.

We could use, not just circuits, but some system involving quantized energy levels, or the interaction of quantized spins.
This dude predicted quantum computing and spintronics.

oh no im sure mr. nymphetamine thinks this is a superior form of time wasting and the other form is for lesser mortals...guess thats why he restricts himself to this one...
